Norfolk youngster Vianne Palffy finished as runner-up at the National Tennis Centre Invitational Winter National Tour Finals.

Palffy made it to the under-16 girls finals at Roehampton at the weekend at an event which brought together the top 16 players from two national qualifying events for the grade one event.

The fourth seed opened up her tournament against Abbie Tyler of Dorset, winning 6-2 7-5. Her quarter-final opponent, Aisling Mcgrane from Hampshire and Isle of Wight, standing at 6ft 2ins was a daunting proposition. Palffy however came through the match winning 6-4 6-1.

Her semi-final opponent was Annabel Davis from Hertforshire, who had beaten the number one seed in the quarter-final, but Palffy came through 6-1 6-3 to reach the final.

Palffy, who trains at Easton Tennis Centre, came up against a very strong number two seed in Amelia Rajecki in the final where she was beaten 0-6 1-6 but it was a successful weekend nonetheless.
