The fastest bike split of the professional women's field helped Norfolk triathlete Kimberley Morrison to seventh place at the Challenge Championship in Slovakia.
Morrison set the women's course record on the bike on her way to sixth in Samorin last year, completing the 90km in two hours, 12 minutes and eight seconds at the Challenge series' showpiece event.
This year a cycle split just 29 seconds slower was still the fastest and resulted in seventh place, 13.09 minutes behind the winner, fellow British competitor Lucy Charles.
The 30-year-old, from Bale, near Fakenham, completed the 1.9km swim in 28.54 minutes to climb out of the water in fifth place, before her excellent bike split lifted her up to second ahead of the half marathon run.
Morrison slipped to seventh while completing the 21.1km run in 01:32.25 hours to complete the half Ironman distance race in a total of 04:19.19 hours – 03.21 minutes faster than last year despite finishing a place lower.
