Former player Adie Hayes will be remembered during a minute's silence at The Walks today ahead of King's Lynn Town's top-of-the-table clash with Stourbridge.

The former Diss, Dereham and Lynn midfielder died earlier this week at the age of 36 after losing his fight against a brain tumour.

Linnets manager Gary Setchell hopes his side can earn the victory to honour his former team-mate's memory, saying: 'I knew him very well, I played a couple of years with him at Sudbury and we were travelling partners for one of the years I was there.

'He was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, a top player, a top lad. It's just a tragedy, 36 years old is far too early.

'Whoever he came across would say exactly the same, I don't think anyone ever had a bad word to say about him.

'A lot of the players won't have known him and we'll be trying to win for a number of reasons, but it would be nice to get the win for Adie as well.'

Stourbridge arrive in west Norfolk level on points with the Linnets at the top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division table after also winning their opening two games.

The Worcestershire club are managed by former Shrewsbury Town and Stoke City winger Gary Hackett and were switched from the Southern League to the Northern League during summer reorganisation.

Setchell said: 'We know Stourbridge are going to be one of the top teams. Frickley and Ramsbottom, no disrespect to them, but Stourbridge is going to be a very different test.

'But it's at a good time for us and it's at home so we're looking forward to it, the only unfortunate thing is that Jordan Yong and Dan Quigley have picked up injuries.'

Those injuries were picked up on Tuesday night, when Lynn came from behind for the second match in a row, to beat Frickley Athletic 2-1 at The Walks.

Full-back Jackson Ramm equalised and then midfielder George Thomson repeated his heroics of the 3-2 win at Ramsbottom United last weekend by popping up with the winner.

'Stourbridge finished fifth in the Southern Premier last year and have won their opening two games as well and I fully expect them to be a top three or four team,' Setchell added.

'So it will be a good test for us but one we are looking forward to. We're first, they're second and then on Monday we've got Stamford, who are third, so it's a big weekend for us.

'If we can get through it and pick up points, I'll be very happy.'

Lynn Reserves travel to AFC Sudbury Reserves in the Thurlow Nunn First Division, hoping to improve on a 3-2 home defeat to Long Melford last time out.
