Harleston Magpies thrashed Ipswich 6-1 to retain their two-point lead at the top of the Premier Division.

Magpies started brightly and took the lead when Tommy Graham knocked in a cross from Tristan Baynes. They continued to dominate and were 2-0 up at the break, Baynes scoring after a quick, decisive counter-attacking move following man-of-the-match Pete Bale's interception.

Andy Hipwell knocked in the third after a quick interchange straight off the training ground between Graham and Bale and Mark Wheelhouse smashed in the fourth for his first goal of the season against his former side. Ipswich replied with a consolation goal but Harleston weren't finished and further goals from Rhodri Furlong and Hipwell completed the rout.

Dereham began the second half of their Premier A campaign in the best possible way thanks to an impressive 2-1 away victory against Londoners Wapping.

A goal in each half from team captain Rich Stainthorpe ensured that all three points would be heading to Norfolk, maintaining Dereham's charge for a top five finish in the East's elite division. It was a great moment for the 34-year-old attacker, who returned to East London for the first time since completing his role as media manager for hockey at the London 2012 Olympics.

Dereham took the lead midway through the first half when Stainthorpe powered into the circle and unleashed a fierce reverse stick shot into the net, reaping the rewards of some terrific build-up play from Ric Timm and Mark Hunter.

Wapping pulled themselves level just before the break but Dereham had the final say seven minutes from time when a smart pass from teenager James Lavers found Stainthorpe, who sneaked between two Wapping defenders before finding the bottom right corner with a confident finish.

The result will give Dereham added belief ahead of this weekend's double header against league leaders Harleston Magpies on Saturday and Cambridge University on Sunday.

Norwich City secured one of their best wins of the season in Premier B when they beat leaders Ramgarhia 3-1 in their first competitive match for eight weeks.

City lost John Rutterford in the morning due to illness, reducing the squad to 12, but were encouraged to find Ramgarhia also had a similar number and were missing a couple of key players.

Enjoying the greater possession, City won a short corner and although Chris Perry's flick rebounded off the left hand upright Nick Jones reacted quickly to knock in the rebound.

City increased their lead after the break, showing patience and good passing round the circle before Jez Elliott crashed the ball into the far corner. Ramgarhia reduced the arrears from a short corner but Elliott converted a straight strike to secure all three points for City. This was only the leaders' second defeat and the result leaves City in fifth place, now only six points off a promotion spot.

Dragons' man of the match was Dave Sloman.
