Axed Canary Paul McVeigh could be about to relaunch his career in Italy.

The 29-year-old is currently training with Pisa, with a view to signing for the Serie B club.

McVeigh was deemed surplus to requirements by Canaries boss Peter Grant last season and spent the closing months on loan at Burnley.

Although he enjoyed a mini revival at Turf Moor, Burnley boss Steve Cotterill decided against offering McVeigh a contract after he was released by Norwich.

McVeigh experienced the highs and lows of life at Carrow Road after moving from Spurs in 2000. He was leading scorer in 2002-03 with 14 league goals, but when City reached the Premiership in 2004-05 he failed to hold down a regular starting place and found himself increasingly sidelined.

Pisa - who will be coached by Giampiero Ventura this season - won promotion to Serie B after last season's play-off final against Monza and their rebuilding process has seen five new faces join the club, which last played in the Italian top flight in 1991.
