THE Canaries have rejected a transfer request from City striker Leon McKenzie.

The striker, 28, spoke to City boss Nigel Worthington and expressed his desire to leave Carrow Road after more than three-and-a-half-years with them.

But the request has been turned down, with Worthington keen to keep the former Peterborough forward in Norfolk.

"Leon is an important part of the football club," Nigel told the club's official website.

"He is highly thought of by myself and the staff and the supporters and is a very important member of our small squad.

"As far as I'm concerned he is not for sale and will remain at Norwich City."
