Local coach Mark Dare has picked up a national award.
Dare, chairman of the Norwich and District League, has been named National Table Tennis Coach of the Year, by Table Tennis England.
'It feels absolutely fantastic to win the award since there are so many other coaches who do fantastic things, improving standards in table tennis,' he said. 'I got involved in table tennis basically because I was no good at anything else (sports). I just gave it a go one day when I was 10 years old and have been coaching ever since. It's really enjoyable to teach and work with young people.'
At the ceremony, in Nottingham, Mark was named Coach of the Year for his work in Norwich and East Anglia, with players of all ages and abilities, from beginners to elite. Mark is also general and coaching secretary of Wensum Table Tennis Club, as well as the league's Table Tennis England representative.
