Team boss Rob Lyon admits it's a make or break week for King's Lynn Stars' Elite League play-off aspirations.

Seventh-placed Lynn sit three places and eight points outside of the top four going into a period of three matches in four days.

Ahead of a crunch spell – which starts at basement boys Belle Vue Aces tonight – Lyon believes his charges need to hit the ground running to ensure their season doesn't just stutter to a halt.

The Norfolk Arena chief said: 'It's a big week, there's no getting away from that fact. Without wanting to put too much pressure on the guys it's a make or break one for us.

'We still mathematically have a chance of making the play-offs and realistically we need to be getting at least seven points out of a possible 11 to keep us in the hunt this week.

'Every meeting is different and Belle Vue have certainly improved no end. But we've got a team of riders that generally go quite well there. On that basis we've had a win there already so you've got to fancy our chances.

'Having said that they've enjoyed good results against Lakeside and Birmingham recently so it won't be easy.'

Lynn's only away victory this season came in Manchester against Belle Vue and the Stars will be looking to claim another four-point maximum victory haul again.

After last week's home postponement against the Aces – Lynn's seventh Saddlebow Road rain-off of an incredible season – the Stars welcome Belle Vue on Wednesday. One day later they travel to fierce rivals and fellow play-off chasers Peterborough Panthers.

Lyon said: 'It was disappointing we couldn't ride on Wednesday as we would have know what we had to do today and Thursday.

'So we've got to go and get a positive result to kick-start our week and take ourselves into Wednesday with a feel-good factor.

'Then we go to Peterborough on Thursday which won't be easy. Every meeting is different and hopefully we can go there with points in the bag to take some pressure off us and put some of it onto others.'

Lynn should be at full strength for their visit to Kirkmanshulme Lane with number one Niels-Kristian Iversen appearing to have shaken off a knee injury and Maciej Janowski returning to the line-up.

Talented Brit Craig Cook will miss the meeting for Belle Vue after breaking his wrist while riding in Edinburgh last week. Josh Grajczonek, who shares a double-up position with Cook, will take his place in the Aces team.

Belle Vue: 1 Rory Schlein, 2 Josh Grajczonek, 3 Patrick Hougaard, 4 Mark Lemon, 5 Artur Mroczka, 6 Ales Dryml, 7 Renat Gafurov.

King's Lynn: 1 Niels-Kristian Iversen, 2 Ulrich Ostergaard, 3 Maciej Janowski, 4 Mads Korneliussen, 5 Daniel Nermark, 6 Kevin Wolbert, 7 Mateusz Szczepaniak
