Wolverhampton 37 King's Lynn 53

King's Lynn responded to their first defeat since April in perfect fashion as they edged arguably their finest win of the season.

The record-breaking Stars, who saw their 14-meeting winning run ended at Lakeside last week, bounced back with a magnificent 53-37 victory at Wolverhampton. Facing the side who condemned them to their first defeat of the year, Lynn put in a stunning showing to come out on top in a scintillating clash.

Even a spectacular showing from world champion Tai Woffinden could not stop the high- flying Stars as they added four more points to their growing Elite League points tally.

Some exciting racing ensued early on as both sides traded blows, although neither side was able to establish any breathing space in the opening exchanges.

However, Lynn benefitted from a slice of luck when Wolves star Piotr Pawlicki failed to move from the start line due to bike troubles in heat five.

Despite Tai Woffinden taking the chequered flag, the Stars soon capitalised on their good fortune as they struck two 5-1s in quick succession. First Niels-Kristian Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre then Rory Schlein and Max Fricke got the better of Ty Proctor and Ricky Wells to put Lynn six ahead after eight outings.

Danish ace Iversen brilliantly fended off the fast charging Pawlicki in heat 11 to preserve their slender lead and set up a tight finale. Yet Lynn launched a stunning late surge to not only emerge victorious but also claim all four points. Three consecutive 5-1s after the interval saw them stun their opponents and end their unbeaten home record.

Whilst Lynn's big hitters Iversen and Schlein starred, two outstanding guests arguably made the difference in a tight meeting, with Lewis Blackbird and Max Fricke both impressive.

The duo filled in for the injured Lewis Kerr and Nicklas Porsing superbly, offering tremendous support to their sides' ever-reliable heat leaders.

With Kenneth Bjerre, Robert Lambert and Lewis Rose also battling hard for solid contributions, King's Lynn came out on top courtesy of a tremendous all-around team display.

It was another fine win for the in-form Stars, who continue to go from strength to strength and build up a handy lead at the top of the Elite League table.
