Lynn keep hands on trophy

King's Lynn began their defence of the senior men's inter-club knockout, the Barnard Trophy, with a 19-up win over The Links Country Park. Their reward is a second round tie at Sheringham

First round results: Weston Park beat Mattishall 11 up, Heacham Manor beat Fakenham 13 up, Dereham lost to Costessey Park 1 down, Bawburgh beat Swaffham 2 up, RAF Marham beat Sprowston Manor 8 up, Sheringham beat Eagles 17 up, Middleton Hall lost to Hunstanton 5 down, Royal Cromer beat Barnham Broom 6 up, Ryston Park beat Eaton 1 up, King's Lynn beat Links Country Park 19 up, Mundesley beat Richmond Park 13 up, Royal Norwich beat Dunston Hall 5 up, Wensum Valley beat Great Yarmouth and Caister 18 up, Thetford beat The Norfolk 19 up.

Second round ties to be played on June 8 are Heacham Manor v Wensum Valley, Weston Park v Thetford, Hunstanton v Feltwell, Royal Cromer v Costessey Park, Sheringham v King's Lynn, Royal Norwich v Bawburgh, Caldecott Hall v Mundesley, Ryston Park v RAF Marham.

• Amber Ratcliffe successfully qualified for the matchplay stages of the English women's amateur championship at West Sussex.

The 15-year-old from Royal Cromer joined the country's top players in the knockout after scoring 80 and a one-over par 73. She was the 19th of 32 qualifiers.
