On a beautiful day for running rugby Lowestoft and Yarmouth bagged their third bonus point win of the season to move to fourth in the London 2NE table with a game in hand over their rivals.

In a much improved performance from last week's nightmare at Stevenage, L&Y proved too strong all over the park for their beleaguered opponents from Hackney, who finished the day with three players in hospital, proving what a brave and spirited effort they gave.

The first quarter was to and fro, but L&Y scored first on 12 minutes after Brad Sutherland returned a poor clearance kick down the left. A quick recycle and some deft hands from Russ Chapman, Dave Tiueti and Myles McAlone gave young speedster Tyler Beales room to round his man and race into the right hand corner from 30 metres.

Then, on the half hour mark, a long Chapman kick to the right hand corner was chased by Beales who forced a five metre lineout. Tom Port took Steve Powles' throw unchallenged and a loose pass bounced past Tiueti into the centres. Sutherland scooped the ball up at pace and offloaded to McAlone for the centre to score and give Tiueti an easy conversion.

Good pressure and some outstanding phase play saw Tom Castleton, McAlone, Chris Howe and Port all come close but stout defence held them out and it was no surpise when Matt Howell took a yellow card on behalf of his teammates for his first offence at a ruck.

Despite being a man down, L&Y started the second period strongly. and pressure inside the Old Street 22 gave Tiueti time to slot a drop goal and take L&Y 15 points clear. After dropping a maul close to their line Old Streets faced another bruising five metre scrum and Marc Thomas managed to wriggle over for the third try. Around the hour mark the pressure told again as McAlone released Beales for his second score of the afternoon, and the fifth of the season for the 17-year old winger.

Steve Adams paid the price for being so physical when despite perfect technique his clearance of a ruck was adjudged to be obstruction and he missed the final seven minutes, during which time Streets managed a consolidation score as L&Y's defence tired by breaking from flyhalf and their winger finished off under the posts.
