Lowestoft Town expect to be without Josh Curry for over a month after the defender fractured his foot in the win over St Neots.
The 25-year-old, who was signed in the summer from Mildenhall, had been in impressive form but the Trawlerboys will have to do without his services after he sustained the injury in the cup win earlier this month.
Lowestoft assistant boss Andy Reynolds admits the news has come as a blow for the club but is pleased to have acted quickly to bring in Matt Castellan on a three-month loan from King’s Lynn Town.
“It was really disappointing for Josh because he’s been playing very well for us but the move to bring in Matt made sense for everyone,” he said.
“We need the right amount of bodies and with Josh out for a while we needed to bring someone in.
“He’s used to playing at this level and he’s had a lot of experience at step four with Dereham. Jamie (Godbold) knows him well so knows that he is the right sort of character to bring into the dressing room.”
It was a case of one in, one out at The Amber Dew Events Stadium with the news that Connor Ingram has left the club to re-sign for Gorleston.
Reynolds couldn’t hide his disappointment the young striker had decided to head back to Emerald Park after only signing in the summer.
“Connor is someone who was making a jump of two steps up and it’s disappointing that he’s been as impatient as he has been,” he said. “It’s difficult to make that jump and play every game at a consistent level.
“I think he started around 50 percent of the games he was available for so for him to make that decision to drop back down so early is disappointing.
“We really felt he was a player we could work with over the next couple of seasons and improve.”
Lowestoft head to Rushall Olympic this afternoon in the Southern League Central Premier Division and Reynolds is expecting a battle.
“We’ve managed to get two reports on them and it seems they are a fairly direct side,” he said. “They are no-nonsense at the back and it’s going to be about how we react to that.”
