Lowestoft Town entertain Tooting & Mitcham United this afternoon in a relegation six-pointer in the Bostik League Premier Division.

The Blues' 5-0 hammering at Billericay Town plunged them back into trouble near the foot of the table and anything other than victory today would ensure Dale Brooks' side continue to look worriedly over their shoulders.

Lowestoft are currently in 20th place in the table with Burgess Hill occupying bottom spot, six points away from the Blues, who have played two games more.

Tooting are just a point behind the Trawlerboys and will be going into the game buoyed by their 2-0 win over Wingate & Finchley last weekend.

The addition of Robert Eagle has at least given Lowestoft a boost although the former Norwich man could do little against Billericay in their demonstration of authority at the top of the division.

Eagle rejoined on loan for the rest of the season from Leiston earlier this month although his parent club do have the option of recalling the 30-year-old.

Eagle hopes he is around long enough to help pull Lowestoft out of the mire after playing such a pivotal role in the Blues' promotion to the National League in 2014 during his first spell at Crown Meadow.

'With Leiston having a small squad, there is always the possibility of being recalled after a month but I'd like to stay and get Lowestoft out of trouble and play as many games as I can,' said Eagle. 'Lowestoft will always be a big club to me. I did really well there and I had fantastic times when we got promoted. I've got lots of good mates that are still with Lowestoft from when we all played at Norwich and for me it just felt like going home.'

Eagle made an instant impact upon his return in the win over Enfield last week, scoring in a 3-0 win and the midfielder admitted it is good to get some game time after playing a bit-part role at Leiston earlier this season.

'Having not played as much as I would have liked at Leiston, I wanted to play as many games as possible,' he told the club's official website. 'I had a word with Glen (Driver) and Brooksie had spoken to him as well and we agreed it would be ok for me to come on loan and see where it goes from there.'
