Lowestoft Town have signed Sam Newson from Needham Market in a three-month loan deal.

The 24-year-old agreed terms over the weekend after scoring twice in Needham's 4-1 win over Redbridge on Saturday and will go straight into the squad for the Blues' trip to Cray Wanderers on Wednesday night.

Lowestoft director of football Craig Fleming was delighted to strengthen his squad after an injury crisis at Crown Meadow had threatened to derail their promotion drive.

'Sam is a proven goalscorer and it will be the highest level he's played at, but the loan move allows us to have a look at him and for him to have a look at us and our set up,' said Fleming, whose side came from 2-0 down to beat Enfield on Saturday. 'Obviously with the squad a little depleted at the moment it will also help us on that front and gives us options.'
