Lowestoft Town remain well placed to secure a play-off berth at the end of the season - but they could be sitting a whole lot prettier this morning had they taken all three points against Metropolitan Police.

Only with the benefit of hidsight will we be able to tell how costly dropping points recently at home to Lewes and Met Police will prove to the Blues' cause. But for them to even be within touching distance of the play-offs has taken a monumental effort.

It is vital now that after just one defeat in their last 10 games their charge doesn't falter going into the last month of the season.

In truth Lowestoft laboured to a point on Saturday and it took Bradley Hudson-Odoi's header early in the second half that put the visitors in front, to wake them from their slumber.

Up to this point the Blues looked a side going through the motions, waiting for something to happen rather than seizing the initiative themselves. Without the dynamism that missing dup Chris Henderson (virus) and Curtley Williams (ankle) offer they struggled to break down the Londoners.

It took the surprise of going behind to rouse the Trawlerboys and in the final half-hour they created enough chances to secure victory.

Erkan Okay, revitalised since being restored to the side, got the equaliser in the 65th minute when, despite getting the ball caught under his feet with the goal at his mercy, the former Histon man managed to swivel quickly and fire home.

The visitors started to rock and only the width of the post denied Robert Eagle with a header after being delightfully set up by Okay's chipped pass.

The normally lethal Jake Reed missed a good opportunity when a fine piece of indivdual skill saw him escape the attention of the Met Police defence. However, with just goalkeeper Jake Searle to beat, he uncharacteristically snatched at the chance, horribly slicing wide with his left foot.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge frontman had another chance late on after a nice piece of skill on the byline but from a tight angle Searle smothered his shot.

Lowestoft joint boss Micky Chapman, who revealed the club has agreed a deal to sign Shaun Bammant from Dereham on loan for the rest of the season, admitted his side had fallen short of the high standards they have set in recent weeks.

'We weren't at our best today - we're the first to admit that,' he said. 'When you go 1-0 down at home it's easy to let your heads drop especially when you're not quite at it. But we managed to claw our way back in and we look at it as another point on the board.

'We're still in the middle of a good run. We would love to have got all three points today but we made sure we didn't lose it.

'We've got a clear week now and it's important that we rest up because we've got a lot of games coming up in the final three weeks of the season.

'That gives us a chance for a big push - and hopefully we can get one of those play-off places.'
