Dereham Town boss Matt Henman is hoping some Ryman League advice from Lowestoft Town can help keep his side's FA Cup dream alive.

The East Anglian duo learned who they will be playing in the third qualifying round yesterday afternoon after 2-1 weekend wins extended their run in the competition.

Dereham, who beat higher-level Chasetown at home on Saturday, are at Aldiss Park again - this time against Ryman Premier Division Metropolitan Police - and Henman admits he will be gaining insight about Police from the Suffolk outfit.

The Magpies' manager said: 'I've had a look about them on the internet and I'll go and watch them but I'll definitely be getting some information from Lowestoft.

'They beat them 2-1 in the league so I'll be making a phone call as there is a good relationship between our clubs. I've picked up the phone to speak to Micky (Chapman) and Craig (Fleming) before to talk about players so I'll do it again.

'It will give us some extra information about them which can only help. The main thing is though we're at home, which we're really pleased about. We know we will be on a good playing surface against a team which will probably be physically stronger than us.

'We will have to scrap but we don't want to get involved in a fight as we'll look to get the ball down and play our football. It's going to be tough but it's not inconceivable we could win it.'

In-form Dereham, who have won all of their 11 matches this campaign, have also seen off S&L Corby and Woodford United at home in the cup this term. Their solitary away victory came at Bugbrooke St Michaels.

Police, who play two levels higher than the Magpies, won 3-0 at Berkhamstead to seal their place in the next round. Striker Jonte Smith has scored seven goals in Met's two FA Cup matches this season - including five in their 7-1 win over Beckenham Town.

After a 2-0 victory at Tilbury and Saturday's 2-1 win Wealdstone, Lowestoft's reward is another away tie, this time at fellow Step Three outfit St Albans City.

Joint Trawlerboys boss Ady Gallagher believes his side are underdogs against the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division outfit who are unbeaten in five matches and thumped Ashford Town 6-2 at the weekend.

'We go there as underdogs given the fact their form's been so excellent and they're at home,' said Gallagher of the outfit who include former professionals Micah Hyde and Barry Hayles in their ranks.

'We've had a number of away games in cup competitions of late so we'll have to take it on the chin. We know what to expect because their boss (David Howell) used to manage Harrow Borough.

'He tries to promote a passing style of football so it will be a tough game. But our form is good and we're happy with how we're progressing. Our belief is growing.'

Winners of the October 6 ties will collect 7,500 prize money and be one more victory from the first round proper.
