Lowestoft Town joint boss counting on firepower for next season

Lowestoft Town joint boss Ady Gallagher believes the Blues squad will be packed with goals next season after Michael Frew's decision to sign a new two-year contract at Crown Meadow.

The former Corby striker had been linked with a move away from the Trawlerboys but, after finding his form towards the end of the last campaign, he has decided to stay with the Suffolk side.

With Jack Defty signing last week to bolster a front line that can already boast the likes of Chris Henderson and Nathan Stone then Gallagher believes the Blues' attacking options are shaping up nicely.

'It's terrific news that Frewy has decided to stay,' he said. 'He had a really tough season but he came through it really well and was producing some excellent performances towards the end.

'He understands what he needs to do to play regularly for Lowestoft. He had offers elsewhere but we didn't want him to go and he can see the ambition we've got.

'Frewy obviously played with Jack (Defty) at King's Lynn so that could be a good combination but we're going to have some very strong competition up front.

'Jack is a great addition to the squad – he has got a proven track record and along with Hendo (Chris Henderson) and Stone we're going to have some great options up front.

'Hendo finished the season brilliantly and Nathan will prove what a good player he is with a decent pre-season behind him.'

Lowestoft have also recently signed Danny Cunningham from Bury Town on a two-year deal and Gallagher revealed he is a player they have been keeping tabs on for some time.

'Danny is a very good player – I've known him since he was playing county football and I was involved with that. It was nice that he remembered me from that time and we have always kept an eye on him.

'I think he has always wanted to play for us and it's the right time for him to come here. He has really matured as a player and a person – he has got a young family and will be a really valuable addition to the squad.

'He has got all the attributes you need to be a top player.'
