Lowestoft Town chairman Gary Keyzor has spoken out to address rumours the club is in financial difficulty.

The Trawlerboys chief used the club's Facebook page to allay fears the club had fallen into debt and insisted it is 'business as usual' at Crown Meadow.

Keyzor, who has overseen a period of unprecedented success during his chairmanship, has asked supporters to trust him and his new committee, which is expected to be named later this week.

A number of messages on the club's messageboard had suggested the club was in trouble but Keyzor insisted this couldn't be further from the truth.

'To all fellow fans. There will be a club statement over the coming days in regards to the new board set up and the reasons behind it,' said Keyzor. 'As chairman of Lowestoft Town FC I can assure you that the club is not in any debt and the Crown Meadow belongs to the club 100pc and there has never been any talk of selling it, so it's business as usual for LTFC.

'As fantastic supporters I would like to think that you can trust me and the new set up along with all of those who work hard behind the scenes for our club.

'Nobody deserves to be reading the unnecessary rubbish that guys like Plumstead Blue and London Blue are sadly spewing out on what now seems to be their own fans' forum, along with alternative pages and twitter.'

Matters came to a head earlier this week when it was revealed Manny Osei had left the club to re-join Leiston.

The striker had only signed for the Blues earlier this season from Metropolitan Police but, after receiving an offer 'out of the blue', Lowestoft decided to cash in.

Supporters have had to endure a season of transition after three years of challenging for the Ryman League Premier title.

This season has seen the departures of Scott Mitchell, Greg Crane, Joe Francis and Lee Smith following on from the summer exits of Andy Reynolds and Jamie Godbold. Despite this the club still finds itself within touching distance of the play-offs and it is hoped the new board will be able to oversee more success both on and off the field.
