Lowestoft Town have announced a pre-season friendly against a Norwich City XI next Friday at Crown Meadow, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Blues will come up against a young Canaries side as they continue their preparations for the new league campaign ahead, which starts on Saturday, August 18 at Whitehawk.

Tickets will cost 7 for adults, 5 concessions and 1 for under-16s.

It promises to be a hectic weekend for the Trawlerboys as Craig Fleming's men also host Billericay Town the next day at home but the former Canaries defender says he wants to get as much game time into his players as possible before the campaign starts.

'It's a coup for the club to get Norwich City to come to us,' said Fleming, whose side followed up last weekend's 5-0 win against Gorleston with a 3-1 victory at Brantham Athletic on Tuesday. 'It's important the players get as many games as possible before the start of the season so that we're ready to go again.'

Fleming has been pleased by the attitude shown by his players during pre-season so far and believes they will be ready to hit the ground running in the league next month.

'The new lads have settled in really well and there's a real freshness about the players which is very pleasing to see,' he said. 'Sometimes you can get a bit of a hangover if you suffer disappointment at the end of the previous season but that's clearly not the case here.

'The main thing from here until the start of the season is to keep them injury free – that's got to be the main goal.'

Lowestoft's Portuguese trialists once again caught the eye for the Blues in their recent friendlies as Osiris Gomes and Bofuki Alves hit the target against the Greens last weekend. Chris Henderson, Dale Cockrill and Robert Eagle were also on target.

Fleming has been impressed with how the trialists have settled into the squad but will take his time before deciding whether they are players he wants to add to his squad permanently.

'They were very good against Gorleston and you can see they have got a lot of skill,' he said.

'We will continue to have a look at them in training and see if it's something either side wants to take any further.

'We still want to bring a couple of signings in and hopefully there will be something to say over the next couple of weeks.'

Lowestoft's pre-season campaign continues tomorrow when they travel to King's Lynn Town, kick-off 3pm.
