Lowestoft Town director of football Craig Fleming admits his side must prioritise results over performances after watching the Blues grind out victory at Hendon last weekend.

With the Trawlerboys still blighted by injuries to several key players Fleming has told his squad they must stay in the promotion pack and hopefully kick on when the likes of Greg Crane, Dan Gleeson, Dale Cockrill, Adam Smith and Andy Reynolds are fully fit.

Fleming was delighted to secure the three points at Hendon although he admitted the match could easily have resulted in a similar outcome to the defeat at Carshalton the previous week.

'Result wise it was exactly what we needed, performance wise it was very similar to the week before,' said Fleming, whose side's winner came through Chris Henderson in the first half.

'We created a lot of chances again and fortunately this time we managed to take one of them. We have got that many injuries at the moment that it's just about getting through it game by game. Each game at the moment feels like we are down to the bare bones.

'We've just got to hang in there at the moment, stay in touch and hopefully some of the lads will shake off the injuries.'

Fleming hailed matchwinner Henderson, who continues to be one of the club's shining lights. After a difficult beginning to his Blues career last season the decision to move him from the wing to a central striking role looks more inspired with every passing week.

'I went to watch him a few times at Kirkley and then at Bury and he was always a wide player who carried a goal threat,' said Fleming, whose side welcome Bognor Regis to Crown Meadow this weekend. 'Last year circumstances dictated that we played him through the middle and he hasn't looked back since. He has been tremendous for us.'

Whitehawk moved to the top of the table in midweek after a 1-1 draw at home to Metropolitan Police, although the Blues would go top if they could win their two games in hand over the Ryman League Premier new-boys.

'I think the teams that are up there at the moment will be the ones fighting it out – I think it's going to be very close again,' added Fleming. 'We just need to stay in there at the moment.'
