Lowestoft Town joint boss Ady Gallagher admits the Ryman League Premier title is Wealdstone's to throw away – but it won't stop the in-form Blues trying to crank up the pressure in the end of season run-in.

The Trawlerboys have won five matches on the bounce following away victories at Cray Wanderers and Hendon, catapulting them into the play-off zone in fifth place.

Their rise has prompted optimism amongst fans that they could even launch a late dash for the title but Gallagher admits Wealdstone are firmly in pole position to take the title.

'I think Wealdstone are in a very strong position and it is theirs to throw away at the moment,' said Gallagher, whose side sit nine points off the leaders having played two games more. 'But you could have said similar things about both Dulwich Hamlet and Maidstone a month or so back.

'We will just keep on trying to put in the performances that we have been and see where it takes us.'

Lowestoft's recent form has been a far cry from the first half of the season which left them languishing in mid-table.

However, several key players returning from injury has seen them gain the kind of consistency needed to mount a promotion bid.

Gallagher insists he never doubted his side would re-establish themselves as one of the key players in the division.

'There's no secret to it – we've just got lads back from injury and they're working extremely hard,' he said. 'I've always felt that if we could get everyone fit then we would be a massive threat in this division. I knew we would climb the table, it was just a matter of what the other teams around us would do.'

Establishing a settled side has been one of the cornerstones of Lowestoft's recent success but Gallagher admits it has been a challenge keeping all his squad members happy.

However, he reserved praise for the likes of Erkan Okay, Adam Smith and Curtis Haynes-Brown for the attitudes they have shown despite being out of the side.

'Players are going to have to take their turn out of the side every now and again,' added Gallagher. 'We've always said if you're playing well enough then you will stay in the side.

'Hand on heart I don't think any of the lads being left out can complain at the moment given our results.

'The good thing though is the attitude they have shown when called upon. Three of the lads that have been out of the side recently were involved in the build-up to winning the penalty that won us the game on Monday night.'

Lowestoft entertain Lewes tomorrow when they will be hoping Curtley Williams can shrug off the virus that kept him out of the trip to Hendon.
