Lowestoft Town were knocked out of the Ryman League's Championship Manager Cup when they lost 6-5 on penalties to Heybridge Swifts after a dramatic fourth round tie at Crown Meadow had finished 4-4 after extra-time.
Despite twice taking the lead through Russell Stock and Jamie Godbold, the Blues were 3-2 down at the interval, with Luke Callander (2) and Nathan Smith on target.
But a Lowestoft side featuring a number of fringe players hit back after the visitors had been reduced to 10 men late in the first half when Danny Barber was shown a straight red card.
Stuart Ainsley got the hosts back on level terms from the penalty spot and, six minutes into extra-time, he netted his second penalty of the night to put them ahead.
But, with victory in sight, Chris Ribchester struck in the 117th minute to send the tie to penalties.
