Lowestoft Town midfielder Erkan Okay admits he can't have any complaints about being left out of the side for much of the Blues' season so far.

However, after re-establishing his place at the heart of the Blues' midfield recently, the 29-year-old is determined to play his part in the club's hunt for the play-offs.

Okay's second-half strike preserved a point at home to Metropolitan Police last weekend and the former Histon man is delighted to be back in the first team fold after finding his route to the team blocked by Rossi Jarvis and Andrew Fisk for much of the season.

'It's nice to be involved. Jarv and Fisky have been playing very well together and individually they've been playing well so I've no complaints there. They are two good players and I've just had to wait for my chance.

'I don't think I've played badly though this season. Now I'm back in it's up to me to try and stay there.

'It's been difficult to watch from the sidelines but as long as we win then I don't really care.

'It's nice to play and score but I'll take three points over them any day of the week.'

Despite Lowestoft dropping points at home last weekend, the Trawlerboys remain well placed to snatch one of the play-off places between now and the end of the season.

They currently sit in seventh place but enjoy three games in hand over Maidstone, who occupy the final play-off place, four points above the Blues.

Okay believes a feelgood factor has returned to the Meadow recently and hopes he and his team-mates can finally achieve the holy grail of promotion to the Conference set-up.

'We've got such a small squad compared to other seasons but the camp has always been good,' he added. 'Hopefully, if we get in the play-offs it will be fourth time lucky. We've just got to keep going as we have been and keep picking up points. We've still got seven games – I think the play-offs are still within reach and then we take it from there.'

Okay admitted the Blues weren't at their best against Met Police but feels the point gained may prove crucial in the end of season shake-up. 'It was always going to be difficult to set those same standards and we've been very good over the past couple of months.

'It just didn't happen for us but the important thing is that we managed to get back and take a point.'
