The final weekend of action before the festive break in the Lowestoft and District League, sponsored by Gary Bennett Driving School, produced some pre-Christmas crackers.

Going into the new year it remains tight at the top of division one. With Oulton Broad inactive at the weekend, Hearts of Oak have moved to the top of table after a 2-0 away win at sixth placed Mutford and Wrentham.

DK Consultants moved up into joint second place with Broad, just a point behind Hearts and with both teams having two games in hand, after a 1-0 home win over ninth placed Spexhall FC.

Barsham are fourth after a 5-2 away win at bottom of the table Waveney Gunners, while Norton are fifth following a 2-0 win over eighth-placed Great Yarmouth Town Hall. Waveney Reserves are seventh after beating tenth placed Kirkley & Pakefield A 1-0.

Payton remain top of division two after a 3-1 win over third placed Norton Athletic Reserves, while Kirkley and Pakefield B maintained the pressure with a 6-3 away win at bottom of the table Spexhall Reserves. K&P B are two points behind the leaders with three games in hand.

Waveney A moved up to fourth with a 2-0 away win at seventh placed Factory Arms, Crusaders are sixth after a 5-2 away win at Bungay Town A, while first from bottom Telecom Rovers had a good 3-2 win over 11th placed Earsham Reserves.

In division three, Southwold Town remain top of the table after a 2-1 win over seventh placed Carlton Rangers Reserves. Hearts of Oak Reserves remain in second place, a point behind the leaders with a game in hand, after a 3-1 away win at sixth placed Stanford Arms.

DK Consultants Reserves and Ellingham remain in joint third, two points behind the leaders. DK Consultants Reserves beat 12th placed Westhall 6-1 away, while Ellingham beat eighth placed Notley's 2013 3-1.

Fifth placed Carlton Colville Town beat Carlton Crown 5-2, while 11th placed Electro Tec beat tenth placed Gunton United 2-1.

There will be two matches in the Gary Bennett Driving School Lowestoft and District Leqague this Saturday (December 28), with the games kicking off at 2pm.

In division one, Great Yarmouth Town Hall will face Oulton Broad at Green Lane, Bradwell (referee R Stanton) with Carlton Rangers Reserves taking on Stanford Arms in division three at Walmer Road (referee Z Woodrow).
