Matthieu Louis-Jean will make a second attempt to get some decent playing time under his belt when City's reserve side take to the field tonight for the third league match of their campaign.

The Frenchman played half an hour of the season opener, the 2-1 win over Oxford, but his hopes of doing double-time against Orient on Tuesday were ended by a knock on the ankle which forced him off after 30 minutes.

A serious hamstring injury restricted Louis-Jean to just two appearances for Nigel Worthington's first team last season - so another run-out tonight is vital if he is to turn training ground fitness into match fitness.

Reserves manager Keith Webb won't have any of the first team squad available for the Pontins Holiday Combination match at home to Colchester tonight (7.30pm) and is set to field the same side which drew against Orient.

“I am pleased with what the way the kids have produced so far,” said Webb. “We have tried to do certain types of work with them in training and it has given me a little bit more time with them.

“Doing it this way has given us more of a settled look and allowed me and Martin (Hunter) to work on them and so far it seems that the work is bearing fruit.”

Squad: Arnold, Louis-Jean, Bexfield, Fisk, Spillane, Halliday, Smart, Martin, El Ouargui, Muddell, Eagle. Subs: Eames, Lathrope, Quaye.
