Lowestoft and Yarmouth recovered from a nightmare first half against London 2NE leaders Romford and Gidea to regain some self respect.

L&Y didn't get off to the best of starts when inside centre Callum Cashman pulled his hamstring in the warm-up.

With the pack reshuffled and on a perfect day for running rugby, Romford took only three minutes to show why they are sitting at the top of the league with a well worked seven points. L&Y were having a torrid time with their first up tackling and passing as time after time Romford skipped through their defence at will, racking up 51 points in the first 40 minutes, leaving L&Y bewildered along with a large crowd.

After some stern words from captain Marc Thomas and coach Scott Nelson L&Y returned to the field a different team. From the kick- off the ball was worked up field from a series of quick pick and goes from Proctor, Fewkes, Howe and Thomas and eventually man of the match Chris Howe scrambled over for the first score with Russ Chapman adding the extras.

On the 60 minute mark the hard working Russ Wilkinson and Graeme Newton were replaced by Tom Port and Carl Stephenson. Nelson produced some delicate chips over the Romford defence for the chasing McAlone but on both occasions the ball just bounced out of reach. By now L&Y were putting pressure on the Romford line and it was Howe again who added another five points with an identical try to his first, Chapman converting.

A lapse in concentration allowed Romford to add their only score of the second half before the ball was once again worked up field and Nelson dummied Steve Adams to race under the posts for an easy Chapman conversion.
