King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell has revealed he is close to signing a former Norwich City player, who could arrive in time for Saturday's FA Cup third qualifying round tie against Stamford on Saturday.

Setchell's side take on Sleaford at home in the United Counties League Premier Division this evening but the 36-year-old hopes to bring the player to The Walks by the weekend whilst also hinting a UCL player is also close to completing a move.

'The club have put seven days in for a footballer last week, who we will be speaking to on Tuesday, a UCL player and I am also in talks with an ex-league player who operated in The Blue Square Premier last season and is currently out of work,' he said. 'Hopefully we will know more on that by the middle of the week.

'The ex-league lad has played in the Championship with Norwich City and has had numerous league clubs, and has also played in the Blue Square Premier this year. It will be a bit of experience for us in the next few tough league games and the cup game as he is not cup tied yet.'

Meanwhile, the Linnets have landed a home tie against Raunds Town in the next round of the UCL League Cup following their victory over AFC Kempston Rovers on Saturday. Goals from Nelson Moreira, Stephen Spriggs and Luke Thurlbourne handed Lynn a comfortable 3-0 victory in a much-changed side but Setchell is likely to shuffle his pack once again at The Walks this evening
