Young Canaries keeper Joe Lewis says his loan deal with League Two newcomers Morecambe is the "perfect" move.

The 19-year-old has agreed a six-month stay at Christie Park and says he's ready to fight for the right to wear the number one shirt.

"I have come here to battle for my place and hopefully I'll be given an opportunity," said Lewis, who spent the end of last season at Stockport.

"The club are on a high at the moment, so it's a good place to come to.

"I watched the play-off games on the TV and was impressed. They looked a decent footballing side."

Lewis said it was an easy decision to make once he heard of Sammy McIlroy's interest.

"I have been looking for some first-team football and the manager here spoke to my agent and sorted the move," he added. "It's been a bit frustrating not to be getting a chance at first team level at Norwich, so I needed to get out on loan and this was a perfect move. I can't wait to play here at Morecambe.

"At the moment I think my future lies at Norwich. But you never know, if I come and enjoy it here anything could happen."
