Proud King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell insists his high-fliers will have had a great campaign – whatever happens between now and the end of the season.

The promoted Linnets have taken Evo-Stik Division One South by storm this term as well as enjoying a memorable run to the last 16 of the FA Trophy.

Hopes remain high that Lynn, third, can secure back-to-back promotions but their delighted manager believes it's still been a success story at The Walks, regardless of whether they go up or not.

Setchell said: 'Seven wins at any level of football on the spin, let alone for a newly-promoted team – with what we were hoping for at the start of the season and where we are now – is just a dream story really.

'We're bang there and we're in a great position. We couldn't have dreamed about this last August or September to be in the position we are. Whatever we achieve, or don't achieve, from now on this season has been a success. But I can assure you we've got 15 games left and we'll be trying to win every single one of them.'

The Step Four new boys look certain to finish in the top five after enjoying a 100pc league record so far in 2013.

They will move up to second if they win their game in hand over Stamford. And with league leaders Coalville, 14 points ahead of Setchell's men having played three games more, dropping seven points from their last nine, thoughts of winning the title still haven't disappeared.

The Lynn boss said: 'Coalville are still 14 points clear. They'd have to fall in a hole really for us to catch them. We've got some tough games. After Saturday five of our next six are away from home which is going to be crucial.

'But then we've got a good run-in so if we can hang onto the coat tails of the likes of Stamford and Coalville, with our run-in, after the away games, we'll have a live chance.

'I think we'll almost certainly get in the play-offs so we should be relaxing now and having a go at it. We've got nothing to lose. No one expected us to be where we are, let alone challenging for the league or talking about it at the start of March, so we've had a fantastic season. We want to kick on, I want to kick on, and I don't want to settle for second or third. It's squeaky bum time for all of us now.'

The Linnets return to action at home tomorrow against 17th-placed Market Drayton Town.
