Norfolk's U12 badminton team were 11-9 winners over Essex in a topsy-turvy match at Framlingham Earl Community Sports Centre.
The team was made up of Adam Preston, David Flannigon, Toby Thompson and Riley Dingle for the boys and Rhianna Hudson, Elise Murphy, Freya Small and Anuska Damodur for the girls.
The points were shared in the mixed, girls' singles and boys' doubles. Norfolk went down 3-1 in the boys' singles but then won all the girls' doubles right at the end.
The mixed partnerships of David and Freya and Toby and Anuska did well to win. Riley Dingle came up with the only boys' singles win. Freya (15-13, 15-5) and Anuska (15-2, 15-3) at three and four did well to take their singles. Both boys' doubles pairs (Adam/David and Toby/Riley) beat the Essex second string pair.
However, the girls (Rhianna/Elise and Freya/Anuska) notched a memorable team win by taking all four rubbers.
