Norwich City have confirmed that Omar Koroma is poised to join the Canaries in a season-long loan deal from Portsmouth.

Pompey are waiting on international clearance from the Gambia FA. Once this is completed it has been agreed for the striker to join the Canaries for the 2008-09 campaign.

The 18-year-old striker has impressed Harry Redknapp with a number of eye-catching performances whilst on a two-week trial at Fratton Park. Nicknamed 'OJ', the Gambian-born youngster has played in pre-season games against Swindon and Exeter. He earned a penalty at the County Ground, which Defoe converted for the opener and won another penalty against Exeter, which again Defoe dispatched.

On Koroma, Portsmouth boss Redknapp told The News: "OJ has done well, he's only 18 and I think he's a real prospect. He's quick and he's got a lot of everything, and the kid wants to do well, he's willing to learn. He's not ready for the Premier League but he's still young so his time can come."
