The card for Contenders Norwich 17 is set – and it looks like being the best show they have ever put together.

Headlining the event, at the Norfolk Showground on December 10, is demolition man middleweight Jason Radcliffe, fresh off five consecutive first round finishes and with the UFC firmly in his sights.

He faces the tough Wilfried Edmund (6-2), fighting out of Team Magnum in Paris, who lost his last fight on decision against Andrew Clamp at ICE Fighting Championships in Manchester in August.

The Frenchman usually fights at light-heavyweight, and has stopped five of his six victims, so will be a serious test for one-man wrecking crew Radcliffe.

Promoter Steve Newman said: 'He's a good big fighter, used to fighting at light-heavyweight, so he will be the naturally bigger man in the cage.

'But Jason is so serious. He's out in Thailand training at Tiger Muay Thai and is all business. He's in amazing condition and can't be far away from the UFC – he'll fight anyone in the division.'

Also on the card is local favourite Iain Martell, an all-action striker who packs dynamite in his fists. Having fought both K1 and MMA bouts on previous shows, the Norwich man is lacing them up for a white-collar boxing match in December.

He fights veteran slugger Mike Bourne (37-2, 33 KO) in a battle which looks almost certain to end with one man unconscious.

'Iain's just one of those guys who people love to watch because of his explosiveness - whoever he fights, in whatever discipline, he's looking for the knockout,' Newman said.

'Mike's had almost 40 fights and he's a banger like Iain, so I'm expecting explosiveness in that one!'

Elsewhere on the card are more local fighters with big followings who look set for the very top of the sport.

Wisbech flyweight Jamie Powell (7-0), the Contenders flyweight champion, faces Daniel Barez (6-4), one of the top-ranked 125lb fighters in Western Europe.

Ipswich featherweight Corrin Eaton (8-2) looks to further enhance his reputation against Igor Mora-Cambino (6-2), while Thetford's lightweight prospect Andre Goncalves (2-0-1), who has never lost as an amateur or professional, faces seasoned Norwegian Kim Thinghaugen (4-3).

Goncalves returns to the cage for the first time since his instant classic with Aaron Khalid back at Contenders 15 in June, when the all-action lightweights went to war in a fight declared as a draw.

'Andre is coming on in leaps and bounds,' Newman explained. 'He's never lost and he doesn't turn down tough fights. Kim is a real test for him too – I'd love to see Andre really go for it in the stand-up but he'll take it wherever the fight goes.

'Jamie Powell is already one of the best flyweights in Europe, but he's fighting a dangerous guy, and Corrin always brings it in fights so that should be a good one too.

'I'm really happy with the card – it's one of the best we have ever done.'

There are intriguing fights from top to bottom of the card, with cracking K1 match-ups between Jamie Richardson and Hakkon Foss, and Tomas Siaucila and David Small, both looking set for fireworks.

There's a fantastic youth K1 match-up too, as Norfolk's Jake Catterall does battle with Suffolk's Cameron Cunningham.

Catterall, who pushed Ben Sell all the way in the fight of the night at Contenders 16, will look to get back to winning ways against the super-talented power-puncher Cunningham, who fights out of Unit 1 in Bury St Edmunds.
