Toby Hilliard is making a habit of grabbing late goals – and late points – for King's Lynn Town.

The striker – whose injury-time goal earned Lynn a vital win over Hereford last month – was at it again on Saturday when he rescued a point, this time, for Ian Culverhouse's men.

The Linnets had trailed to a 72nd-minute Jack Self goal, but Hilliard struck deep into injury time. It wasn't enough to prevent Lynn from surrendering top spot to Hereford, who won 4-0 at Dunstable, but it could yet prove vital.

'Our final play today in the final third of the pitch wasn't good enough,' boss Ian Culverhouse told the club's official website. 'We need to be more clinical again as we have been over the past two weeks. The game was played on what I can only describe as a bog of a pitch and when you think either side created really only one notable chance each that tells you everything you need to know.'

After a slow opening a good passage of home domination resulted in Simon Lappin shooting wide of Jack Harding's goal. Lappin then turned provider as his delightful centre was met by the head of Craig Parker whose looping header rebounded off the bar with Michael Gash unable to turn home the loose ball. Sub Leon Mettam's run was halted by an onrushing Harding who made a brave stop.

Despite all of the probing it was the Puritans who struck first as Self took full advantage of the space afforded to him by the home defence to slot past Alex Street.

With time running out the busy Mettam appeared to be fouled inside the area, but referee Abigail Marriot awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box and Harding produced a top save low to his left to divert Gash's effort around the post.

Lynn finally got the reward their efforts when Hilliard hooked home from 10 yards following a link-up between Norman and Mettam.
