King’s Lynn Town booked their place in the second round of the League Cup after recording a 4-1 win over Peterborough Sports at The Walks last night.

Recent signing from Leiston Chris Henderson scored on his debut while Matty Castellan, Toby Hilliard and Harry Baldry were also on target, with two late goals adding a gloss to the scoreline.

Henderson opened the scoring after 17 minutes and three minutes later it was 2-0 with Castellan heading powerfully home to put the Linnets in a strong position at the break.

Peterbrough Sports got back in it early in the second half when Jack Newman reduced the arrears.

The visitors then had their chances to level but the Linnets survived a spell of intense pressure and Hilliard drilled home a third with five minutes left before Baldry completed the scoring at the death to ensure a safe passage into the next round for recently appointed joint managers Robbie Back and Neil Fryatt.
