King’s Lynn Town will be looking to maintain their unbeaten away record under their joint management team when their attention turns to FA Trophy duties.
Robbie Back and Neil Fryatt began their time in charge with a big FA Cup win at Histon, then had league matches on the road at Halesowen (2-2) and Leiston, which they won 5-1.
On Saturday it’s a trip into the Peak District to face Buxton in the first round of the Trophy – a game worth a healthy £3,250 to the winner.
Lynn do have a couple of major injury issues to contend with – Adam Marriott and Chris Henderson are both doubts.
“Both have been receiving treatment for knocks earlier in the week,” said Back.
“They are not bad injuries but Adam will not play on Saturday and Chris is also unlikely to feature.
“The good news with Adam is that he should be alright to resume training next week.”
Buxton are seventh in the Evo-Stik Premier and are decent at home – five wins, one draw and one defeat in the league this season.
“This will most certainly not be an easy game for us,” said Back.
“It will be a tough test but we have done our homework and we know a little bit about them.
“We will be a little light on numbers having let a few go out on loan but we still have a squad that is more than capable of bringing back a positive result.
“Our away form is really good and we have been scoring plenty of goals on our travels so we travel full of confidence.
“Their pitch (a newly-installed 4G plastic surface) will also suit us and our style of play.”
Buxton aren’t in the best of form, though, with three draws and a defeat in their last four games.
They have added to their ranks, signing former Stoke City Academy midfielder Oliver Roberts from Mickleover Sports.
And there is some previous between the sides – Lynn beat Buxton 3-1 in the second qualifying round of the Trophy in November 2016.
The draw for the next round is on Monday, but if it ends all square at Buxton the replay will be next Wednesday evening at The Walks (kick-off 7.45pm).
