King’s Lynn Town moved to within four points of the Evostik Southern League summit after recording a hard-fought win.

Tom Ward’s goal midway through the second half settled the issue as the Linnets followed up their superb 2-0 win at leaders Hereford on Saturday with another three points.

With the Bulls left inactive by the weather Lynn are breathing down the necks of the title favoruites, although they have now played two more games.

What proved to be the winning goal arrived on 65 minutes when Michael Clunan’s flighted free-kick was flicked on by Michael Gash and a goalmouth scramble ended with Ward slamming the ball into the corner.

Shortly after the goal Slough’s Matt Lench picked up a second yellow card and with an extra man Lynn dominated the rest of the game, with string of fine saves from Jack Turner keeping it at 1-0.
