King's Lynn Town recent recruit Cameron King stole the show at Top Field as the Linnets came out on top against the Canaries.

The game started at a quick pace with both sides creating chances, Alex Street was called into action to gather up a shot from Trey Charles.

Lynn then found another gear and deservedly took the lead after 17 minutes.

A quick Simon Lappin throw-in released Michael Gash whose driving run into the box ended with a fine shot that found the top corner.

One should have brought two for Lynn, Ryan Hawkins was set free on goal but home keeper Michael Johnson was quick off his line to gather up at the feet of Hawkins before he could pull the trigger.

It was Hawkins again who had the next chance. A clear run on goal ended with his low shot beating Johnson but striking the base of the post and rolling behind for a goal kick.

Lynn finally doubled their lead right on the stroke of half time, Lappin's shot from the angle of the box made its way to King, who slammed the ball past Johnson.

Lynn started the second half brightly and in the 56th minute Gash looked to have a clear run on the Canaries' goal but was denied by a superb piece of defending by Jack James.

A minute later Lynn did have a third, and it was Gash again pulling the strings. Leaving a home defender for dead with a good piece of skill, he laid the ball on a plate for King who doubled his tally for the afternoon.

Three soon became four for Lynn in the very next attack.

A raking pass up the touch line from Cameron Norman released Hawkins who fired a shot straight at Johnson, but the ball slipped through the busy keeper's hands and bounced into the net.

Hitchin went in search of a consolation but Street stood strong in the visitors' goal. First a quick reaction save denied Brett Donnelly finding the net with a stinging volley from inside the area.

In the next Hitchin attack the Linnets shot-stopper not only turned Robbie Burns' header on to the post, but he had the presence of mind to recover quickest to hook the loose ball off the line with his foot as a number of Hitchin players piled in to try and turn it home.
