Forget Kettering - for now - as Culverhouse prepares King’s Lynn for trip to Stratford

Forty-eight hours after Saturday's trip to Stratford Town, Lynn are back at The Walks to face Kettering, a match that is rarely short of drama and excitement.

But Culverhouse has been around the block long enough to know that 'one game at a time' is a cliche for everyone but football folk.

That's the rule he sticks to and which he demands his players do likewise.

'Very much so,' he told the club's official website.

'It's something that I always insist upon and it's something I have instilled into the players, although that has never been a problem for me here.

'When you start getting ahead of yourself and thinking further ahead than you should be, your problems begin.

'I know our supporters are looking at Monday, and good for them, but for me it's Stratford who are getting my initial attention. Then on Saturday evening on the coach home we will have a chat and think about Monday.'

Lynn go into the game of the back of a midweek win – their fifth in a row – over Basingstoke, although they had to come from behind to get the points, with Cameron King grabbing the winner.

'A few people may have expected Basingstoke on Tuesday to roll over,' said Culverhouse. 'I didn't and they didn't. We had to work extremely hard to achieve the win.

'Stratford will be the same – lot's of hard work and graft and wanting to prove a point in front of their own supporters.

'We then have a very short recovery time and then it's Monday and Kettering at our place.

'I'm hoping our people turn out in good force and come and back us with some noise and support. They are a good side and that's why they are in the position they are in the table.

'One thing I and all my players relish is a challenge and Kettering will be a challenge. However they will be thinking the same as we are. It should make for a good game.'

Both weekend games kick-off at 3pm.
