King's Lynn Town embark on a new adventure this afternoon when they begin life at Step Three of the non-league ladder.

Gary Setchell's heroes have enjoyed back-to-back promotions to return to the level the club was at before it went out of business in December 2009. And now they can look forward to even lengthier trips than they endured last season – starting today in Cheshire against Nantwich Town.

The Linnets travel to the Weaver Stadium to face a club that finished 14th in the 2012/13 Evo-Stik Premier Division campaign. The Dabblers have a new boss in the shape of Danny Johnson, who used to manage fellow Northern League side Ashton United, but Setchell admits his men have the advantage of enjoying a pressure-free start to their league programme.

The Evo-Stik Division One South title-winner said: 'I'm comfortable going away from home. They've got a new manager and their players will be trying to make an impression. They'll be making all the early running.

'We go there as a double promoted side, away from home, against a recognised Step Three side. There's no pressure on us. There will be at The Walks on Tuesday and Saturday, whatever happens today, so it's a little bit of a blessing in disguise that we're away first.

'We will be going there at a time when any sort of result will be deemed as a good result, and that's a good way to start.'

New signing Rob Duffy misses out as he completes his return to fitness while Stuart Wall looks set to feature for Kettering Town as he begins his 'loan' spell on his return to action. Frontman Ewan Clarke, who also signed for Lynn on Thursday, will travel in the 17-man squad. Dan Jacob (toe) and Steve Spriggs (Achilles) are injury doubts. Ed Gomes' trial has ended unsuccessfully.

Johnson has brought a host of new recruits with him to Nantwich but Setchell is equally happy with the options at his disposal ahead of the big kick-off.

He said: 'I'm really excited (that pre-season is over). We have got a good, fit squad. We know it's going to be tough. 'But we're ready for the challenge. We were in exactly the same position last year in terms of stepping into the unknown and look how that turned out. I'm not for one minute saying that's going to happen again but in football you just never know.'
