Former Norwich City youngster Jackson Ramm is determined to progress his – and King's Lynn Town's standing – after moving to The Walks.

The pacy right-back, who turns 21 today, signed for the Linnets this week after deciding to leave Cambridge City. He arrives in Gary Setchell's squad with a massive reputation having played for the Canaries and Blackburn Rovers as a teen.

But trials at Manchester United, winning an England Under-18s cap, and spending a term with Colchester United perhaps shows why the defender is still being tipped for big things. And he insists that Lynn can help him achieve his dreams of moving back up the footballing pyramid.

Ramm said: 'I didn't really feel that at Cambridge City (same level as Lynn, Step Three of non-league) I had that progressive ladder really. I've been at some really big clubs and done well, and obviously got an England cap under my name.

'But first and foremost I want to help King's Lynn go as far as they can go but also I want to use it as a progressive ladder and hopefully get back into the professional game.

'After speaking to Setch, and the drive that he's got, and he also wants to bring in some players and really help this club go forward, I think it's something I want to be part of.'

The Norwich-based player will already be familiar to many Lynn fans after he bagged an absolute screamer during Cambridge's FA Cup victory at The Walks last term. But even though he possesses terrific attacking abilities, Ramm still believes his main job is to protect his own goal.

'I don't score many so when you hit one with your left foot and it goes top corner you remember it,' he chuckled.

'I've seen it back more than a few times really. As a full-back I'm more of an attacking one. But one-v-one defending, and defending, is your role really as a full-back. You have to be able to defend. And I feel that I've got that in my locker but also going forward; attacking, overlapping my wingers, getting crosses in the box, also popping up with a couple of goals, I've also got that about me. Hopefully I'll be able to show that.'
