He may have only arrived back at Lynn over the summer, but Michael Frew has had enough of Stamford's hold over his new club.

And after opening his account for the season with the winning goal against Stourbridge on Saturday, the striker hopes today is the day the Linnets loosen that grip.

The Daniels have evolved into something of a bogey team at home against Lynn in recent seasons and Frew wants to put the record straight when they travel to the early league leaders.

Frew said: 'Obviously I haven't been back that long, but the gaffer has spoken about recent results against Stamford in the dressing room.

'I haven't been involved in those matches but I know things need to change. There are wrongs which need putting right.

'With it being a derby and the fact that both teams are sitting at the top adds that little bit more spice to it.

'Hopefully the lads will turn up and show Stamford and whoever else might be watching what we've got.'

The frontman was delighted to finally get off the mark for the season with the only goal of the game on Saturday.

Frew's winner came three minutes into the second period when he bundled home George Thomson's centre.

'It feels great to score my first goal of the season,' said Frew.

'I won't reveal what part of my body the ball came off but I'm just happy to get off the mark and hopefully move on from here now.

'I've come in and Setch has obviously told us what he wants and how we are going to line-up.

'The work-rate of the lads, not just today but at Ramsbottom last week, has been brilliant. Everyone dug in and was tracking back for each other.'

Lynn fully deserved the points and their third win in as many games after creating the better chances in a tight encounter with the Glassboys.

The impressive Jackson Ramm, who also went close with a header in the first half, should have opened the scoring seconds before Frew actually did, but he dragged his effort wide after bursting through the backline.

Substitute Chris Ward also hit the bar, while at the other end, Linnets goalkeeper Alex Street denied Stourbridge's Sean Geddes and Ben Billingham with fine saves.

Both Dan Quigley (knee) and Jordan Yong (hamstring), who failed fitness tests on Saturday, are also set to miss today's top-of-the-table clash in Lincolnshire.

Lynn have lost their last three league and cup clashes at Stamford.
