Delight for Allitt as King’s Lynn silence the Lions

King’s Lynn boss Dale Allitt heaped praise on his side after their big away win at Leicester.
The Stars were impressive 52-38 winners at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, getting off to a whirlwind start with three 5-1s in the first four races.
Both Niels-Kristian Iversen and skipper Robert Lambert went quicker than the old track record in their opening rides, and the Stars then worked hard in mid-meeting to restrict any Lions revival before stretching clear in the closing stages.
Allitt said: “The boys dug in well. We had a difficult period with a few eventful races, but I’m delighted with the performance. “We did well here in the Knockout Cup without Robert, so we were quite confident coming back, although since then Leicester have strengthened up quite considerably.
“So it’s a great result, and it shows what we’re capable of.
“I’ve said all along that when we’ve got a full team we’re really strong, and that’s our second win on the road.
“I looked at the rider-replacement and talked about it with the guys, and we felt Tofty (Michael Palm Toft) in heat one with Niels was always going to be strong.
“Niels broke the track record as well, which is fantastic, and he’s still feeling his way back in after injury.
“It’s all about confidence. We’ve got a busy week next week, and it gives us full confidence going into that, where we’ll hopefully capitalise on our home meetings.”
With away points firmly on the board, Stars can start to give the league table a more realistic look next week – if they can win big home matches against Poole on Monday and Swindon two days later.
Those meetings see the first appearances in King’s Lynn colours for new signing Jason Garrity, who has replaced the injured Lewis Kerr.
Leicester 38: Hans Andersen 11, Ricky Wells 6+1, Charles Wright 6, Kenneth Bjerre 5+1, Krystian Pieszczek 4, James Sarjeant 4, Todd Kurtz 2.
King’s Lynn Stars 52: Thomas Jorgensen 12+2, Robert Lambert 12, Ty Proctor 11+2, Niels-Kristian Iversen 8+1, Michael Palm Toft 8+1, Simon Lambert 1, Lewis Kerr r/r.
