King's Lynn Stars will be hoping to take to their Norfolk Arena track for the first time in more than a month tonight as they prepare to welcome Coventry Bees to Saddlebow Road.

Rob Lyon's Stars outfit have seen their last two home Elite League fixtures – against Belle Vue Aces and Swindon Robins – postponed due to wet weather.

Lynn's riders haven't taken to their home shale since a disappointing 47-43 derby defeat to Peterborough Panthers on April 6.

However, a morale-boosting 50-42 away win at Belle Vue last week – despite ending the meeting with just five riders – has lifted expectations that the Stars can now begin to gather some momentum for another play-off push.

Stars chief Buster Chapman said: 'The win at Belle Vue showed what we're capable of and Rob (Lyon) admitted we showed great team spirit to do it after the injuries.

'Niels-Kristian Iversen (15) and Kevin Wolbert (16+1) were excellent on the night and should be full of confidence but so should all the riders. However, Coventry are a better side and I hope they don't catch us cold.

'The weather's been ridiculous and some of our lads still haven't ridden here. We're desperate to get some time on our own track but we've been unable to. It's really not ideal but we just have to accept it and get on with it.

'A lot of the lads have thankfully been riding abroad so we can have no excuses. We got a decent result at Coventry so I hope we can get a meeting on and try and pick up some more points.'

Lynn sit fifth in the table after eight meetings, six of which have been away from home. A string of fine, but ultimately pointless displays, have slowed their early-season progress, but Lyon's side did pick up a point at Coventry in a narrow 47-43 defeat.

Daniel Nermark and new signing Mateusz Szczepaniak have declared themselves fit after withdrawing from last Thursday's victory at basement boys Belle Vue.

New signing Joe Screen, like Szczepaniak, is set to make his Norfolk Arena debut in Stars' colours this evening.

The Bees sit seventh, having picked up six points in as many matches this campaign. Edward Kennett moves up to number one in the team while Speedway Grand Prix rider Chris Harris drops down to number three.

King's Lynn: 1 Niels-Kristian Iversen, 2 Joe Screen, 3, Maciej Janowski, 4 Daniel Nermark, 5 Mads Korneliussen, 6 Mateusz Szczepaniak, 7 Kevin Wolbert

Coventry: 1 Edward Kennett, 2 Aaron Summers, 3 Chris Harris, 4 Kenni Larsen, 5 Scott Nicholls, 6 Adam Roynan, 7 Henning Bager.

Gates open at 6.30pm. Racing begins at 7.30pm

• Promoter Buster Chapman has this morning assured fans he will be doing everything possible to get tonight's meeting on.

Despite poor weather being forecast, the Lynn football and speedway chief is hopeful of some racing at the Norfolk Arena.

He said: 'Myself and the riders are determined to get this meeting on. We are expecting rain during the morning and afternoon but we are scheduled a break in the weather from around 5pm until late. If this happens then we will definitely be racing.

'I hope the fans come along and enjoy our first Elite League match since Good Friday!'
