King's Lynn Stars boss Rob Lyon (pictured) has launched a scathing attack on the state of Peterborough's track as he continues to contemplate his future in the sport.

Lyon remains furious about the 'potato field' circuit which his riders raced on during their 50-43 derby defeat at the East of England Showground on Thursday.

Kenneth Bjerre suffered a broken leg after an accident in heat one and Lyon admits the 'unsafe' nature of the track has made him consider calling it a day.

Lyon - who will attend today's Grand Prix in Cardiff as a fan - said: 'I feel the same now as I did after the meeting. The result's irrelevant. I make no apology for the fact we lost. I'm just pleased we got our riders through relatively unscathed.

'We voiced our concerns about the track after Kenneth's crash and nothing was done. It was like a potato field. It was beyond a joke. It was inconsistent. There were holes and there were lumps of dirt. Speedway's a dangerous enough sport as it is but it was crazy.'

He said: 'Speedway's a big part of my life but I want to enjoy it. I didn't at Peterborough. I'm going to Cardiff with friends and family and I want to enjoy it. Once that feeling goes there's no point carrying on. I need to sit down and decide where my future lies.'
