Kings Lynn Town 3, Blackstones 1Lynn continued their 100% start to the season with a deserved 3-1 win over Blackstones last night at The Walks.

Jamie Thurlbourne, Robbie Harris and Stephen Spriggs struck with Michael Nelson replying for the visitors to make it nine wins in all competition for Town.

Lynn started without last season's top scorer Jack Defty, the management duo of Kevin Boon and Gary Setchell opting for Harris and Danny Beaumont upfront. There was a return in midfield for the Thurlbourne brothers, Luke and Jamie, coming in for the injured Jordan Yong and the absent Defty.

The Linnets started brightly and Stephen Spriggs threatened Lee Crockett's goal early on with a controlled left foot volley after good work from Beaumont. The Blackstone's goalkeeper was in for a busy evening as he was soon tested again by both Spriggs and Luke Thurlbourne.

Spriggs came within inches of breaking the deadlock on 28 minutes when he poked his shot against the post during a desperate goalmouth scramble. Beaumont was the next to go close as his crisp volley flew inches wide as the home side dominated.

Lynn got the reward their first half pressure deserved in the 40th minute; Jamie Thurlbourne jinked his way through an absent Blackstone's defence and found the bottom corner with a superb drive.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the Lynn net on 65 minutes, only for it to be ruled out for offside. The Linnets responded and almost extended their lead seconds later, Beaumont again found Crockett in superb form.

King's Lynn Town did double their advantage five minutes later; Harris pounced on a loose ball inside the 18 yard area to fire home. Lynn then switched off and allowed Blackstones back into the game, with 10 minutes remaining, Nelson beat the offside trap and rounded Alex Street to half the deficit.

The Linnets made the points safe on the stroke of full-time; the lively Spriggs grabbed a deserved goal. The former Wroxham wide man beat the offside trap and coolly slotted home past Crocker to seal an impressive victory for the home side.
