King's Lynn striker Chris Bacon has left the UCL Premier Division title contenders.

Linnets' joint boss Kevin Boon confirmed Bacon's departure on Tuesday morning following the arrival of Dereham forward Danny Beaumont. Bacon notched 10 goals in 26 appearances during his second spell at the club after playing semi-professional football in Australia.

'I spoke to Chris this morning and he has decided to probably take a year out of football because he wasn't enjoying it. He knows he can do better. I've told him he can come and train with us anytime he wants because the nature of football is you never know what is around the corner with injuries and so on.

'Chris is a very, very good striker but we have brought one or two in. He has been a true professional gentleman who was honest enough to admit he didn't feel overall his performances had been up to scratch.

'He can train with us anytime he wants because I think at this stage he isn't going anywere else.'
