Jessica-Jane Applegate wins IPC World Swimming Championships gold - and breaks her own world record

Norfolk's golden girl Jessica-Jane Applegate continued her phenomenal success story at the IPC World Swimming Championships this morning.
The Paralympic champion, from Belton, near Gorleston, broke her own world record on the way to a stunning International Paralympic Committee (IPC) world gold in Montreal, Canada.
The 16-year-old was fourth at the halfway mark of the 200m freestyle S14 final but stormed to the finish in two minutes, 9.88 seconds, beating the 2:11.47 she set in Sheffield earlier this year.
The teenager, who as Asperger's syndrome, finished more than two seconds ahead of Irish ace Bethany Firth as she emulated her London triumph.
'That was definitely a tough race,' Applegate told the BBC.

'I really had to dig deep in that last length. I could see someone out in an outside lane who was going out fast but I had to try and not get too far behind. I was dying a bit on those last 50m but obviously had enough to hold on.'
The City of Norwich swimmer, coached by Alex Pinniger, won her heat to qualify for the final – held in the early hours of today – and saw just 0.24s off of her own, then, world best.
