Jack Yule turned on the style at the Norfolk Golfers' Alliance meeting at Marriott Sprowston Manor while Caroline Grady maintained her excellent autumn form.

Yule, the former King's Lynn amateur who has now turned professional, recorded a brilliant eight under par 63 to pile up 44 Stableford points and win the event with something to spare.

It was, by two shots, the lowest score ever recorded at Sprowston Manor but won't count as a course record as preferred lies were in operation.

Yule also won the team competition with his dad Iain, their total of 44 points pipping Sheringham's Derek Foreman and Kelly Carter by a single point.

Anthony Ralton (Sheringham) and Andrew Marshall (Bawburgh) were third on 42 points while equal fourth on 41 were John Pywell (Southwold) and Bryan Smy (Dunston Hall), Barry Wortley and Mervyn King (Great Yarmouth and Caister) and Roger Marson and Trevor Thaxter (Sheringham).

The meeting was attended by 72 members, including 10 professionals.

Grady couldn't match Yule's superb scoring but, as has been the case on a regular basis recently, she played solidly to finish runner-up with Marshall on 39 points after going round in 68.

The 44-year-old former European Ladies Tour professional, who competes against the men off the red and white tees, has broken 70 on three occasions in recent months, finishing first twice in Great Yarmouth and Caister Alliance events and second three times. Scores of 67 (three under par) and 69 sealed her wins.

'I have really enjoyed myself recently,' she said. 'I have been playing nicely and it's great to still be able to go out there and compete. Playing the game and teaching it are both passions of mine and it's good that I can combine the two and still pick up some good results.'

Grady teaches out of Bawburgh, where she first took up the game, after many years at Dunston Hall. 'The Barnard family and all staff at Bawburgh and my teaching base Norwich Family Golf Centre have been extremely welcoming over since my return,' she added.
