The Hunstanton team of Tom Beasley, Charles Mackay, Chris White, Dan Messias and Will Chapman saw off Costessey Park 4½-½ to take the scratch title while Middleton Hall beat Wensum Valley 2½-1½ in the handicap event.

The morning semi-finals of the scratch competition saw Hunstanton take on Eaton and Costessey Park face Dunston Hall.

The Hunstanton versus Eaton match was a keenly contested affair, with Hunstanton coming out on top by a margin of 4-1.

Costessey Park and Dunston Hall was also a competitive match, with Costessey Park claiming victory by the same margin.

The first game of the final saw Beasley beat Dylan Green 4&3 and that set the tone for the afternoon, with the silverware being secured by wins of the same margin for Mackay over Shaun Larkins and White over Aiden Tanner.

Former county captain Kevin Webb prevented a clean sweep for Hunstanton by halving his match with Messias before Chapman completed a great day for the winners by seeing off Warren Blackwell in a tight match by one hole.

The semi-finals of the handicap competition pitted Royal Cromer against Wensum Valley and Middleton Hall against Barnham Broom.

Wensum Valley came through a tough match to book their place in the final while the other semi-final was an even tighter affair, with a play-off required as the two teams finished all square.

The first extra hole was halved so the players moved on to the second which was again well played but a timely putt from Middleton Hall saw them advance to the final.

The final proved a nail-biting experience, with the result going down to the wire. Middleton Hall were ahead in one game, Wensum Valley ahead in another and the third game was all square.

Needing a putt to take the match to extra holes, Wensum Valley had the misfortune to see the ball horse-shoe around the hole. With that their quest for county glory was over and Middleton Hall recorded a 2½-1½ victory to win a final that was played in tremendous spirit.

Norfolk president Graham Turner handed over the trophies to the two winning teams.
