Tomorrow's game at Holt against South Woodham Ferrers has all the ingredients of being a potential banana skin for the home side.
In four previous meetings Holt have won them all, while South Woodham Ferrers have not won away from home since March.
However, Holt have won just once at home this season, although this was a comprehensive demolition of Basildon in their most recent outing at Bridge Road.
Both teams will be desperate for a positive result, with Holt looking to close the gap on South Woodham, who are six points clear but just one place above of them.
Holt have taken a lot of positives from last weekend's narrow defeat at high-flying Rochford Hundred, when the Norfolk side fielded a team with an average age of just over 23 whilst the front row had a collective average of just 21.
The whole team acquitted themselves well and were in front for three-quarters of the game and were given a great ovation after their efforts had earned a losing try bonus point.
Holt's second and thirds combine in the annual friendly against Gresham's Old Boys. It's a fixture that always proves to be exciting with two contrasting styles of play, with Gresham's Alumni looking to play at pace and the older Holt contingent looking to play at a more sedate pace.
